For repeat test takers

You did not fail on knowledge. Prep for the part that actually beat you.

1 & Done Exam Prep is a fixed-term MFT licensure exam program built for a specific problem: candidates who know the material and still lose points to the second-best answer. It delivers clinically reviewed practice questions by text message each day, and every rationale explains why the best answer wins and why the tempting alternatives lose — the exact judgment the AMFTRB exam scores. If you are preparing to retake the exam, this page is about what to do differently.

Sound familiar?

The reality

Your score report told you the domains you missed — not why you keep picking the plausible wrong answer inside them.

The reality

Re-reading the same content review is discouraging because content was never the problem; the decisions were.

The reality

Every retake means another registration fee, more waiting, and the quiet fear that the same thing happens again.

The reality

You are studying while carrying the last attempt — motivation and confidence are part of the work now.

How 1 & Done fits your situation

Train the decision, not just the content

Every question coaches the FIRST / NEXT / BEST frame: what a licensed clinician does first, what happens next, and which option is best when two sound right. That is the skill a retake is usually missing.

Rehearse branching clinical cases

Case simulations let you practice sequences of decisions where each choice changes what happens next — the closest thing to the exam's applied judgment, without the stakes.

Know when you are actually ready

The readiness range shows your current level honestly, with transparent limits, so you re-register when your performance says so — not when a calendar says so.

Retake protection that helps pay for the retake itself

Pay-in-full Jog and Marathon purchases include reimbursement toward one verified retake registration fee — 50% up to $350, or 100% up to $650, under the accepted terms. It is not a promise that you will pass; it is a commitment about the cost if you do not.

What you get

  • Daily text-message practice — 1–3 reviewed questions a day, no app to open
  • A written rationale for every answer choice (FIRST / NEXT / BEST judgment)
  • Adaptive practice shaped by your domain-level performance
  • Branching clinical case simulations
  • Timed mock exams with autosave
  • Readiness range and domain mastery, with transparent limits
  • Fixed terms that never auto-renew — $250–$1,299, installments available

Questions repeat test takers ask

I failed by a few points. Will more practice questions fix it?

More volume alone usually does not — most near-miss candidates are losing judgment points, not content points. The fix is practicing why answers win: per-choice rationales, FIRST / NEXT / BEST sequencing, and branching cases that punish plausible-but-wrong decisions. That is the entire design of 1 & Done.

How is this different from the prep I already used?

Most banks reward volume and show you a percent-correct score. 1 & Done delivers a small daily set by text and invests every question with reasoning about each distractor, then tracks a readiness range instead of a hollow average. If your last prep gave you questions without judgment coaching, this is the missing layer.

What does the retake reimbursement actually cover?

On pay-in-full Jog or Marathon purchases: the Jog reimburses the lesser of 50% of one verified eligible retake registration fee or $350, and the Marathon the lesser of 100% or $650, under the accepted terms — with documentation and deadline requirements. Installment plans and the Founding Membership do not include it. Review the Terms before purchase.
